Course Description
This course consists of planning and travel security, regional threats facing employees, travel preparation and practical tasks for learners
Who Should Attend:
This course is suitable for all those who travel internationally and who wish to reduce risks to personal safety and the safety of casualties.
Course Outline:
The course consists of the following elements across three days:-
Day 1
- Regional Threat Brief - Overview of current threats facing employees in region.
- Planning/Travel Security - The importance of the various stages of travel planning and preparation including use of emergency and contingency plans.
- Casualty Assessment - Assessing a casualty’s injuries via a standard format (primary survey, resuscitation phase, secondary survey, holding phase).
- Self-Sufficiency - Deployment preparedness covering personal needs and preparation, health, clothing and equipment .
- Airway Management - Demonstrates methods and techniques for dealing with blocked airways.
- Vehicle Search - Theory aspects of safety searching vehicles, including a practical exercise.
- Cardio-Pulmonary Emergency - Explains and demonstrates the procedures used in dealing with cardiac emergencies.
Day 2
- Personal Security/Risk Reduction - Basic personal security procedures and methods to reduce the risk to oneself. How to ensure you are not a target and how to best deal with confrontation
- Wounds and Bleeding - Causes and types of bleeding and how to effectively treat wounds
- Cultural Awareness - How cultural awareness can improve personal security (area specific)
- Vehicle Safety and Travel - Vehicle choice, driving policies, vehicle security, route selection, convoy techniques
- Climatic Conditions - Identifying risks to operating in hot climates. Diagnosis and treatment of heat related injuries
- Hostage Survival - Methodology of kidnap and how best to avoid a kidnap ordeal. Includes various types of psychological tools which can be utilised in this scenario.
Day 3
- Fractures - Identifying and treating upper and lower limb fractures. Practical session including correct lifting techniques.
- Hotel Accommodation Security - Security awareness procedures required when selecting and staying in accommodation.
- Student Travel Plans - Presentations, identification of risks, mitigation, plans and requirements.
- Scenario Exercises - A series of realistic and varied practical training scenarios, controlled exercises designed to consolidate the important themes learned on the course using exciting and challenging scenarios.

Course Duration
This 3 day course includes two breaks of fifteen minutes and a lunch of a one hour duration each day.
